This years annual event runs August 10th to the 18th and features designers from Texas (Austin of course), Florida, Nigeria, Argentina and more. There will be amazing clothes, swimwear, jewelry, shoes and accessories gracing the runways at various events across town the entire week! Since I know a fun-filled fashion getaway might not be in everyone’s budget, I wanted to share some of the featured designers on our blog. I’ve also made a few recommendations as to the beauty lines you might like based on each designer. I hope you enjoy!
Get it…un-VEIL-ing? (I know…totally silly…but I had to!) As a complete and total product junkie, I LOVE when new products come across my desk! As you know from last weeks blog, I regularly get questions about what colors of eye shadow are best for certain eye colors. This week we’re throwing out the rules and taking a look at some of the most approachable ways to wear brighter eye shadow colors regardless of eye color and skin tone. Are you ready for some color?
So I’ve recently had a lot of questions about the “right” colors of eyeshadow for specific eye colors. In short, I don’t believe there are “right” and “wrong” colors for anyone regardless of eye color. The only real rule I subscribe to is not wearing colors that make your skin tone looks ashy. (So if you have warm golden, olive or blue undertones just be wary of muted hues.) That being said, there are certain eyeshadow colors that actually do highlight or emphasize specific eye colors.
As I’m sure all of you have noticed, eyelash extensions more popular than ever! Unfortunately for me (and for every other working woman out there) these fabulous falsies can get expensive. Don’t be discouraged however…there is an alternative! Glue-on lashes or “strip” lashes are a great, inexpensive answer to those lashes you’re lusting after. After years of applying these falsies to my clients, I know how difficult they can be to put on if you don’t apply them regularly. So, here are some fool-proof tips and tricks for applying both strip and single lashes.

BB Cream:

We’ve all seen the magazine articles where various women (typically celebrities) have been asked to dump out their purse or makeup bag and let adoring fans and magazine readers alike into their personal makeup psyche. What I haven’t seen before however is one of these articles where they asked a stylist or some sort…hair, makeup, clothing, etc. to play this game. That being said, I thought I’d let you in on what I carry around on a daily basis…which I’m sure is rather similar to what you keep in that bag of yours. When it comes to eyes, there really are a TON of brush options…and while I don’t use each of these every day, they all have their place when it comes down to the details.
I am a firm believer that makeup is only as good as the tools you apply it with. Take applying foundation for example; I like to compare this to painting your house. Would you use a sponge? How about your fingers? No? A brush applies product more evenly (than sponges or fingers) and ultimately wastes much less of that awesome (a possibly expensive) foundation you just bought. (Sponges tend to absorb most of your product whereas fingers tend to let most of your foundation rinse down the drain.) So…what tools do you actually need for that flawless face? Here’s a list of the ones I can’t live without.

My favorite makeup trend-setter this far in 2012 has got to be Adele! Her Grammy-winning garnet grin inspired a number of our favorite leading ladies to follow suit on the Oscar red carpet just a few weeks later and now I’m seeing red lips everywhere I turn!
I want to start off this first blog by welcoming all of you to Beauty Box 5! I am so excited to be your new BB5 Product Expert & Blogger and I look forward to sharing with you my knowledge and love of all things beauty.
