Working at BB5 means we get to try out so many amazing beauty must-haves for our boxes, and sometimes we can’t help but fall in love immediately, or develop what we call a Brand Crush!
This week we’ve got hearts in our eyes for a product that truly inspires. You know that moment when you read about how someone is changing the world and it gives you chills? That exact feeling is what lead us to obsessing over our newest must-have, Lasting Smiles!
Started by Zoe Mesnik-Greene, Lasting Smiles is a company that has a big heart right at is forefront. Zoe wanted to help children born with cleft lip disabilities worldwide and found a very easy, meaningful (and not to mention, soothing!) way to do that with lip balm! She and her team now ethically source organic, fair-trade ingredients that are never tested on animals to make their majorly-moisturizing balms, giving back to farming communities across the globe- but that’s not all!
With a portion of the profits from every sale donated, Lasting Smiles really earns its encouraging and hopeful reputation. Why? For every 1,000 lip balms sold, one child receives the gift of cleft lip or cleft palate surgery in the exact same countries and communities that the top-notch ingredients are sourced from. These donated surgeries ensure children born with cleft lip complications are able to live out a normal, healthy life– talk about smile worthy!
Since learning about Lasting Smiles, our team has hardly put down these tasty tubes of all-natural goodness. With scents like Passionfruit Mango (major yum!), Pure Pomegranate, Peach Blossom and Peppermint, we’ve all found a new favorite and their paraben-free formulas ensure that they stay in the front pockets of our purses.

In our newest feature, Brand Crush, we’re picking major finds that have caught our eyes, lips and skin by surprise and that we can’t get enough of!
Real talk: exfoliation is so important, but can sting sometimes! We know we need to take away dead skin cells and love the feeling of super soft skin, but sometimes the ingredients in traditional exfoliants are harsh and can irritate our skin even worse, and that’s where we’re drawing hearts on our notebooks for Perk Naturals! Perk is a new Canadian skincare line that packages 100% natural ingredients to “make you fall in love with your skin again”- which we can testify, is a huge deal and very true.
Each luxe vegan scrub Perk makes starts with safe ingredients like raw sugar, sea salt, and coffee grounds mixed with hydrating citrus and coconut oils- and seriously: one of the hardest parts of using them is not wanting to eat the products themselves! Our whole team sampled the Citrus Mistress (which smelled like an orange macaron!), Lavender & Lemon (full of real lavender buds to fill your tub and senses with an intoxicating aroma) and Coffee First (which will make you crave a latte, like, STAT) and couldn’t stop touching our perk’d up skin afterwards!
We also indulged in their Pucker Up Lip Scrub by mixing the sugary granules with a little water, scrubbing our lips gently and rinsing- no more chapped winter lips in sight!
The final straw for winning our affection? All the scrubs are packaged in pouches and tins so adorable that you might even leave them sitting out and all are resealable so you can get your perk on for a long time!
