NYFW 101: How to get ready for a fashion show in under a minute. #MNYfw #hyperlapse
Beauty products and rock stars go together like Lindsay Lohan and bad decisions…and this past week was no different! Every March for 9 days, SXSW (south by southwest) takes over Austin for a wild week of music, film, tech and of course, beauty! This year, in the midst of our debut, I got to take Beauty Box 5 along for the ride!
Wednesday, March 14th: The Austin Music Awards
This is my fourth year working with the awards and, as always, it was an amazing event! The show is put on by the Austin Chronicle and serves as the unofficial kick-off to the music portion of SXSW that runs from Tuesday to Saturday. Performances this year included music from Quiet Company, Christopher Cross, Sixteen Deluxe, Carolyn Wonderland to mention a few. Closing the night was Alejandro Escovedo with a special guest…no other than Bruce Springsteen! Of course, the wonderful products from Beauty Box 5 graced the faces of a number of these amazing acts! I had the honor of working with both Carolyn Wonderland and Carrie Clark from Sixteen Deluxe. Prior to starting their makeup I used the Weleda Almond Soothing Facial Lotion and a dab here and there of the Skyn Iceland Angelica Line Smoother as a prep for the perfect flawless face. I also applied Rosebud Salve to their lips for hydration before applying liner and lipstick. Prior to applying eyeshadow, I used the Becca Eye Tint for a light wash of color and as a base for the rest of their eye look. As a national artist/trainer for Mirabella Cosmetics, the majority of the foundation and color products I use come from their beautiful line of mineral-based makeup. Their pigments are just amazing and the staying power of their products was put to the test on stage…and held up like a champ! As the final touch, I set both of these ladies makeup with All Nighter setting spray from Urban Decay using my Travalo atomizer.
*Stay tuned…there’s a lot more to come about the BB5 Austin Music Awards experience!

Thursday, March 15th: The 2012 mtvU Woodie Awards
This was my first year with the Woodies and I had a total blast! mtvU threw an all day festival with a number of amazing bands followed by the awards show taping that evening. Throughout the day, I got to work with VJs Erinn Westbrook, Carly Henderson and Matt Pinfield as well as artists like Mac Miller (Woodie of the Year), Kimbra, Mandi from of Verona, Wallpaper, and one of the hosts, Pauly D! Both of my lovely VJs were prepped with the same products as the artists from the Austin Music Awards and both wore the Lavera Silver Trend Eyeliner…which held up beautifully in the Texas heat! The savior of the festival however was Supergoop! None of the style crew were prepared for the sun to come out and this lovely little SPF saved the day!

Friday & Saturday, March 16th & 17th: Style X
Closing out my crazy week with Beauty Box 5 was debut #2 at Style X (pronounced Style by). As the fashion and beauty mecca for SXSW, Style X brings together fashionistas from across the globe for shopping, runway shows, expert panels and much more! Beauty Box 5 was front and center for this event sharing our beautiful blue boxes with this stylish crowd. There were some great talks throughout the day that covered all aspects of fashion and featured speakers like, Jessica Amason from Refinery 29, Ellen Carpenter from NYLON and Keith Pollock from Elle.com.

Well my BB5 beauties…that about covers my crazy-awesome SXSW 2012 experience. I had a great time introducing so many people to BB5 and it was a blast seeing how interested everyone I worked with was in our fabulous little box of goodies! I hope you’ve enjoyed the pictures…I know I had a great time taking them!
As always…
