NYFW 101: How to get ready for a fashion show in under a minute. #MNYfw #hyperlapse
Unless you’ve been hiding those peepers under some serious cucumber slices, you know that the color for he season is orange…in a BIG way! While this sun-kissed hue is insanely popular for those of us who bleed orange (go horns!), it is probably not a color most women wear on a regular basis. So, here are a few tips on making the most out of the color you HAVE to be wearing this spring.
The quickest and easiest way to incorporate orange into your makeup routine is actually in your eye shadow. I know most of you are saying lip-gloss but, unless you’re already wearing a tan or orange/apricot blush, you’re looking at buying 2 products instead of the one eye shadow. The reasoning behind this comes from the fact that, for your face to look balanced, your lip and cheek color have to be in the same hue…regardless of the color eye shadow you have on. Here some of my favorite ways to wear orange shadow…keep in mind, it doesn’t always have to be day-glo. ;)
If any of these looks tickle your fancy, here are some products you might want to check out…
An esthetician and nail and makeup artist out of Florida, Stephanie Rodriguez is the creator of an AMAZING line of pigments called Fi.R. I was lucky enough to check out these little pots of love recently and I can tell you from experience…and the artistry skills of Ashanti Maxwell of New York Vixen Inc. …they deliver in every way! These cruelty-free, hand-blended mineral shadows come in a wide variety of colors, can be used wet and even double as liner! Regardless of seasonal citrus color cravings, you MUST check out this line!!!
Another line that nailed the spring color scheme is Sephora with their Sephora+Pantone Universe collection. For eyes they have both the Color of the Year Eyeliner Set which comes with three liners; black, brown and orange and the Color of the Year Eyeshadow Quad which includes some lovely basics and a soft muted orange shadow for accents.
Now if lips are your thing, be prepared to adjust the rest of your look just a little. Like I said above, you have to keep your lips and cheeks in the same family of colors. Here are some of my favorite orange-ish lips and cheeks:

I recently purchased the Sephora+Pantone Universe Color of the Year Lipgloss Set and if you’re not exactly sure what shade of orange is right for you…or you want to cover all of your orange bases, this is your set! Each of the four glosses is totally different and they rage from a sheer, hi-shimmer orange stain to a full-color, no-shimmer bright orange with a high gloss shine. I LOVE THEM! Keep in mind that gloss is a great way to brighten up your favorite lipstick so if you’re a little shy about something bright, just put a sheer orange over your favorite nude or bronze lipstick and you’re set. As for blush, my favorite right now is Urban Decay’s Afterglow Glide-on Cheek Tint in Bang…but if you want something a little more subtle, go with Indecent…it’s a little softer, more muted orange/bronze. For those of you who insist on powder blush, Mirabella’s Blush Color Duo in Radiant is your new to-die-for product. Not only do you get your mauve and orange blush fix in one package, this bright orange looks good on all skin tones AND is lovely on the eye as well!
As always, message me if you have questions or need product suggestions!
Peace, love and samples,
Felicity
