Beauty Box 5

Get it…un-VEIL-ing? (I know…totally silly…but I had to!) As a complete and total product junkie, I LOVE when new products come across my desk! While some are hits and others misses, I adore getting to share with all of you the great products that finally make their way into Beauty Box 5! The most recent bottle of bliss to make in into my hot little hands is the Bodyography Veil Foundation Primer.

So here’s the skinny:

A product of the early 90’s, Bodyography launched their line with only 24 lipsticks. Quickly becoming a favorite of beauty salons and Hollywood makeup artists, the line grew to the over 300 products they carry today. Manufactured exclusively in the United States, Bodyography uses recyclable packaging and never tests on animals. Everything in the line is extensively tested by dermatologists and Bodyography works very closely with their lab to ensure that their products are innovative and represent an exceptional value to the customer.

One of the most popular products in the line, the Veil Foundation Primer is Dimethicone-based and packed with anti-oxidants, vitamins A and E, Green Tea and Grape Seed extract. Completely oil-free (essential oils don’t count as oil), this weightless primer fills in fine lines and pores, prevents collagen breakdown, helps even out skin tone and prolongs the wear of liquid and powder foundation. It also contains 3% Dermaxyl for added anti-aging benefits!

I’ve used the Clear Veil Foundation Primer a number of times of the past few weeks and it wears well with every kind of foundation I’ve paired it with, from tinted moisturizer to full-coverage, water-based liquid foundation and mineral powder. (It also held up beautifully in the heat during the various 4th of July parties I attended!) I’ve also mixed it with a few of my full coverage concealers for use on my under eye and the texture it creates is absolutely flawless! (Mixing primer and concealer is great for eyes with a little more texture…the primer prevents the concealer from settling into fine lines.)

At its current retail price point of $30 for a 1oz. bottle, I have to say this primer is worth its weight in fabulous! While there are other primers on the market containing Dermaxyl, Bodyography’s primer is a full $12 less expensive than its competitor…a substantial savings! It’s very similar in texture to the majority of dimethicone-based primers on the market and comes a variety of color choices to even out skin tone (Neutral, Green or Purple) or give a soft bronze (Tahitian Glo or Monaco Matte) to the skin. As with all primers, a little bit goes a long way. If you ever feel like your skin unusually oily after using this primer, you’re probably using too much…all you need is a pea-size drop or less. When you decide to purchase the full size product, be aware that one full pump from the dispenser is actually about 2X more product than you’ll ever need for one use.
