Ever wonder what the ladies with their finger on the pulse of the cosmetics world put on their faces everyday? Here’s the skinny from me, Felicity Fromholz, BB5 Beauty Editor & Social Media Manager.

Stay posted in the coming weeks for more from the rest of the lovely ladies in our BB5 home office!

My Routine:

Primer:

Pixi’s Flawless & Poreless is a great all-in-one, light-weight primer that minimizes pores, controls shine, and prolongs the wear of any foundation. I like this primer over a lot of the silicone-based primers because it has a bit thinner texture. However, when I’m going out for an evening and need a little more support, I LOVE the Veil Foundation Primer from Bodyography!

Foundation:

Almay Smart Shade Anti-Aging Makeup is probably one of the best mass-market foundations I’ve ever worn. It’s light-weight, offers a light-to-medium coverage and adjusts to your actual skin tone. Plus, it has anti-aging properties AND an SPF 20! While they don’t talk about how it actually adjusts to your skin on the website, I’ve come across foundations like this before and it’s typically a mirrored pigment that adjusts to the color of your skin as you rub it in. (I recommend applying with fingers over a brush or sponge.)

If I’m looking for something with a little more coverage than my Almay offers, I use Mirabella’s Skin Tint Creme. The texture is just as light as the Almay and the coverage is about twice as full with a healthy, glowing (NOT shiny) finish. If there are still areas where I might need more coverage, the Skin Tint Creme is buildable, just tap in in gently with my foundation brush after the first layer of foundation has set.

Concealer:

My everyday is the Almay Smart Shade Anti-Aging Concealer. It has the same properties as the foundation of the same name and the texture is very forgiving to those of us with a few (or more) fine lines. For fuller coverage, my go-to is Clinique’s Advance Concealer. The texture is a little dryer and the full coverage is great for under eyes AND blemishes.

Powder:

I always want my skin to look healthy and glowing. While my finishing powder in typically the Translucent Finishing Powder from Cover FX, when I want something with a little more luminescence I reach for Pixi’s All Over Magic #3.

Bronzer/Blush:

Mirabella Cosmetics recently launched their new Bronzed & Brilliant collection of bronzers and highlighters and I’m absolutely in LOVE!!! As a Level III in their foundations, I wear Baked Sand. It gives me the perfect amount of bronze for the winter months and it never looks ruddy or orange.

Since I tend to eat my lip gloss immediately, I’m always looking for the perfect shade of blush to match the natural color of my lips. (They key to a balanced face is having your cheek color be in the same family of color as your lip shade.) For me, Mirabella’s Latte Swirl Brilliant is fabulous! It’s a great neutral mauve with a hint of gold shimmer for some warmth.

Eye Primer:

There’s only one…Urban Decay Eyeshadow Potion! Hands down, this is the best eye primer ever! The texture is thin so creasing is never an issue and it really does help your shadow wear all day. It also comes in more than one shade, all of which are great to wear as a wash of color when you’re on the go.

Eyeshadow:

I typically mix and match brands depending on the look I’m going for. The common theme among them all is that they’re mineral-based. These higher quality shadows wear better in general and are great to use wet or dry. Some of my favorites are Lounge from Urban Decay, Woodstock from Mirabella and anything made by Smashbox!

If I’m just looking for a quick wash of color, I’ve totally fallen in love with my Becca Eye Tint. It wears beautifully and is great alone or as a base color for a smokey eye.

Eyeliner:

Regardless of what type of eyeliner I’m using; pencil, powder or liquid, my Cargo Angle Liner Brush is with me every step of the way I’ve tried pretty much every angle brush out there and there is NO WAY I will ever give this one up! It’s perfect for perfecting a pencil line, using wet mineral shadow at the lash line & applying liquid liner. While I typically use shadow as liner, the pencil I’ve fallen in love with is the Endless Silky Eye Pen from Pixi. They glide on effortlessly, come in great colors and stay on all day!

Mascara:

I have to admit that I’m fickle when it comes to mascara. I HATE spending over $10 on a mascara but I feel like I always end up loving the more expensive mascaras better. Right now, I’m using Buxom Lash. The brush separates my lashes well and it doesn’t get clumpy when I layer for a fuller lash. However, it doesn’t give me the volume I want…so I would LOVE some recommendations!

Well I think that covers it beauties!

As always, message me with your questions, comments and suggestions!

Peace, Love & Samples,

Felicity
