As women, we tend to get into a routine with our makeup. We stick to the same products, in the same colors and apply them the same way every day. I, just like you, am guilty of this makeup stagnation. Until recently, I had completely given up on the pencil eyeliner…in both my personal use and as a makeup artist. I would use liquid or wet my brush and use a random eyeshadow shade but, pencils were pretty much dead to me.

Then, a few of the shades from Pencil Me In Cosmetics came across my desk at Beauty Box 5 and well…my love affair with the eyeliner pencils is back on and as hot and heavy as ever!

Since my makeup cup has runneth over with eyeliner pencil love, I thought I’d share a few tips with you about the many amazing uses for the pencils we’re featuring in your January Beauty Box 5!

But first, a little info on this awesome little brand…

Pencil Me In Cosmetics is a boutique line of antioxidant-packed, long-lasting eyeliners featuring 30 pigment-heavy, custom created shades and (this is my favorite part) a handy pencil sharpener right in the cap! Created by, Linda Eisner, a 20+ year veteran of the cosmetics industry, Color Me In pencils come in a plethora of textures and finishes including matte, glitter and metallic and they’re perfect for layering, smudging and as a base for eyeshadow.

So, here’s what I’ve learned about the gorgeous Color Me In pencils we’ll be sending out. If you want to know more, check out their website HERE!

The Eye Brighteners: Perfect for when your eyes look “tired,” “sad,” or “dull.” All of these colors should be applied to the bottom water line, blended into the top and bottom outside lash line or smudged onto the inner corners of the eyes.

  • Pink Lady: This bubblegum pink is best for those with brown or blonde hair and brown or blue eyes.
  • Denim: A frosted metallic medium blue, this shade is perfect for blondes with blue or brown eyes. Be careful not to over-apply and it’s ok for those with brown hair too.
  • Mint Sparks: This frosted metallic pale green glitter pencil looks great on everyone!

The Red Remover: This life-saver of a pencil is perfect for when your allergies are acting up, you’ve partied too hard the night before or that evil boss of yours made you cry…again. Simply apply to the bottom water line. (It’s also great to neutralize the redness of a blemish before you use concealer.)

  • Buff: This pale green shade is for EVERYONE!

The Fun Stuff: Perfect for a night on the town, casual Friday or as gift for your little sister.

  • Sky Sparks: This powder blue glitter looks best on the inside corner of the eye or as a wash of color on the lid. Anyone can wear it in small amounts but it’s great to accent blue eyes.
  • Champagne Sparks: This frosted pale pink glitter is a makeup bag must-have for everyone! It brightens, lightens and is great to accent the inner corners of the eye after you’ve applied your shadow…regardless of the color. It’s also the perfect introduction to eyeliner for those new to makeup.
  • Jet Sparks: This jet black glitter pencil is perfect for creating a smoky eye and looks amazing when used along the top and outside corner of the lash line. I’d stay away from black if you’re light-haired and light-skinned…other than that, I’d keep this one for your night-time look.
  • Purple Passion: A frosted violet-purple, this liner looks great on everyone! It’s a little more suited to a night-time look so use it sparingly if you want to wear it to work or school.

The Everyday: For daily use, these medium-toned colors are best. Stay away from a true black unless you have naturally dark, full eyelashes. The goal of eyeliner is to make your lashes look fuller so make sure to place your eyeliner as close to the lash line as possible. (Noting looks worse than that gap between a girl’s liner and her lashes!)

  • Liberty Green: This frosted metallic deep green looks lovely on green, brown or hazel eyes…regardless of hair color.
  • Indigo: A frosted metallic deep blue, this color is great when used sparingly on blue eyes or on darker skin tones as a base for a smoky look.
  • Amethyst: This medium purple can be fun and serious at the same time. Use it sparingly if wearing it to work or school or pile it on as a base for a purple smoky eye for cocktails after work.
  • Black Velvet: This lightly frosted silver-black is the closest to black you should ever wear if you’re light-skinned and/or light-eyed.
  • Char-Kohl: This dark grey is the light-skinned, light-eyed girl’s answer to black. It will look more natural and you won’t end up looking like a raccoon.
Well that about covers it my BB5 Beauties! I have no doubt that you’re going to LOVE your new Pencil Me In eyeliner as much as I do!
As always, message me on our Facebook or leave your comments and/or questions here on the blog and I’ll get back to you ASAP!
