MINA: About 6 years ago I was working at a beauty company and constantly being asked for skincare recommendations. I loved sharing my opinions, so after an auto injury I decided to start a beauty blog. Around the same time I was having major Lupus flares and really got more into makeup to help me not look as sick as I felt. I eventually added in other things I love so I blog about skin, hair, makeup, nails and even fashion!
BB5: What is your makeup philosophy?
MINA: I see makeup as beauty enhancer. It doesn’t change who I am and I’m not trying to be someone else, it simply reflects the many sides of me in fun and sometimes artistic ways!
BB5: Who is your beauty icon?
MINA: My grandmother. She may not be famous, but to me she is the pure definition of classic beauty inside and out. So many trends of today are things I remember my grandmother rocking many years ago. Tips and tricks she taught me are still a part of my daily routine.
BB5: What is the best beauty advice you’ve ever received?
MINA: Less is more! I always thought my mother was just doing the mom thing when she told me that but it’s so true. It’s easier to build color up than it is to lessen it when you’ve used too much! Start with a little and build it slowly until you get the result you want.
BB5: What is your favorite thing about Beauty Box 5?
MINA: I love that Beauty Box 5 helps me add new favorites to my beauty stash without doing bad things to my bank account! Even on a tight budget I get to explore beyond my normal routine with a monthly box of beauty treats and it’s exciting!
BB5: Do you have any words of beauty wisdom you’d like to share?
MINA: Sometimes it’s okay to break the rules! I feel beauty rules should be taken as guidelines and helpful tips, not as set in stone rules you must follow. Maybe you know how to wear bold lip and bold eyes together just right. Perhaps you prefer a great moisturizer instead of primer. If it works for you, rock it, work it and own it!
- Lips: NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Buttery Nude is my absolute favorite! It’s the perfect everyday color, stays smooth and doesn’t dry out my lips. Smith’s Rosebud Salve is also my long time favorite and it’s useful in so many ways. I can’t choose just one!
- Mascara: Ellis Faas is currently my go to mascara. I love the boost it gives to the length and volume of my lashes without clumping.
- Eyeliner: OFRA Cosmetics Fixline Gel Liner is everything! Triple Black and Navy are my favorite shades but they have so many other fun colors. So far I have 11.
- Blush: Milani Luminoso is my most used blush. I love the soft glow that it provides without looking overdone.
