BB5: Hey, girlfriend! We love your blog and that lipstick! Tell us a little about your website?

JOHANNA: I started my blog four years ago because I was going through a particularly tough time in my life. I needed a creative outlet and I have a journalism degree that I’m very proud of. I dove in head first and I’ve never looked back. I cover everything, including my latest masterpieces… my gorgeous daughters.

BB5: Awwww. That’s too cute. What would you say is your makeup philosophy?

JOHANNA: Less is more. I wear just as much makeup as the next woman, but I try to look as natural as possible. And I never leave the house without a bold lip.

BB5: We dig it. By the way, who is your beauty icon?

JOHANNA: Audrey Hepburn.

BB5: Quite the class act. Hmmm, if you could only use three beauty products for the rest of your life, what what they be?

JOHANNA: A fantastic moisturizer, a fuchsia lip, and a great concealer.

BB5: That’s a pretty killer combo. Say, what is your favorite thing about Beauty Box 5?

JOHANNA: I never know what I’m gonna get. I rarely pamper myself and it introduces me to new and emerging brands every month.

BB5: Yay, so glad to hear that! If you don’t mind us asking, what did you think was the best product in the January box?

JOHANNA: I loved the Epic Blend Lip Balm. It’s amazing!

BB5: That’s what we like to hear! Well, the BB5 team is super excited to work with you this month! Do you have any last words of beauty wisdom you’d like to share?

JOHANNA: It’s true what they say: wash your face every night. No matter what. Not removing your makeup makes you age instantly.

Johanna’s Favorites:

• Lipstick: L’Oreal Infallible Le Rouge in every red or pink you could imagine. Lipstick makes me feel confident and put together. And I am a closet beauty addict so L’Oreal fits the bill because it’s budget friendly, seeing as I am adding to my collection every week.
• Mascara: Rimmel Glam Eyes. It’s better than any department store mascara. People ask me if I have lash extensions all of the time! There is a comb separator and it dries quickly so your lashes appear elongated. If you’re looking for a natural look, this isn’t your mascara. Think drama…which I like!
• Blush: Physicians Formula Cashmere Wear. Another drug store fave. Are we seeing a pattern? I would love to try out so many brands, but ultimately I am running around like a madwoman and have 20 minutes before a meeting so I scoop up what I need and move on. I rarely have the luxury to stroll makeup counters these days, but once my girls get older? It’s on like Donkey Kong.
